Open Waters Marine Surveys Limited was founded in 2014 by the company's principal surveyor Dr Tony Ellis. It serves the leisure and commercial marine market both in the UK and internationally and is committed to delivering a highly professional and reliable marine surveying service to customers.
With over 30 years associated experience in the marine industry and having sailed many different types of craft we are well placed to help clients with friendly advice and offer a broad scope of surveys.
Open Waters prepares thorough and easy to understand reports for clients wishing to purchase, insure, code or register a vessel and if a vessel is damaged we carry out damage surveys for leading marine insurance companies as well as offering advice upon request for clients requiring our expertise. We use state-of-the-art technology in assessment and reporting.
A knowledge based, common sense and practical approach is adopted where best practice is used. We liaise with boatyards, brokers, government departments and specialists to deliver the best possible service to our clients.
Many satisfied clients return to us and recommend our surveying services to others.
"As a common sense engineer who like things to work, to be functional, and to be reliable given the environment, I relish good design and encourage it and am a stickler for safety. The safety of the craft to go to sea, the machinery, navigation and safety equipment on board all contribute toward a successful and comfortable passage."
"From experience when all works well it instills confidence among the crew that the boat is sound and will look after them, and this fires up enthusiasm to sail more."
"Helping to guide the owner through thorough inspection of the boat is therefore imperative ."
